Moontower is the instrumental debut album from Sic Sense, a Pasadena, California producer/beatsmith who released his first project, a now-rare hip hop album entitled "This Fool," in 2004. Pulling a vast array of samples from his deep and diverse vinyl library, the sounds range from bread and butter vintage R&B, soul, jazz, and funk, to musical scores, psychedelic rock, lounge acts and obscure foreign pop records, all covering vinyl's golden era from the 1950's-1980's. Each track is an exhibition of his own brand of sample-based chopping, filtering, layering, and sequencing. He takes lessons learned from legends such as Pete Rock and J Dilla, and blends them with more contemporary techniques, akin to the work of Oddisee or James Pants.
